We rush around trying to get things done\u2014meet a deadline, finalize a deal, or respond to an email. We go from day to day rushing around like little automatons.<\/p>\n

After awhile, this becomes our lives. We get into our daily routine and before you know it the day is gone.<\/p>\n

This happens day after day and we often forget to stop and reflect.<\/p>\n

Losing the ability to reflect on things prevents us from growing as individuals and appreciating the daily occurrences in life\u2014the \u201csmall wins\u201d that make a difference in our lives.<\/p>\n

Up until a few of months ago, I was as guilty as anyone of doing this. But then I stumbled upon something that\u2019s changed my life.<\/p>\n

I do it every chance I get and it\u2019s had a profound influence on my life.<\/p>\n

I’ve done it so often it\u2019s now a habit with Ivy & I.<\/p>\n

3 Simple Questions<\/h2>\n

I was introduced to this concept by a buddy of mine, Jim Sheils.<\/p>\n

Jim\u2019s the co-founder of BoardMeetings.com<\/a> \u2014 an organization that strengthens the relationships parents have with their children through unique educational experiences.<\/p>\n

This was also recommended to me by a few EO members<\/a> like Greg Parsons.<\/p>\n

Then most recently, I noticed the trend when having dinner with Jay Firestone<\/a>. He also told me the exact same thing!<\/p>\n

Here\u2019s how it works, and how I’ve customized it for myself:<\/p>\n

When you ask people how their day was or how they’ve been doing they respond with a simple \u201cfine\u201d or \u201cgood.\u201d They really don\u2019t think about their responses.<\/p>\n

You’ve probably done this yourself a thousand times. I know have\u2026 and sometimes I still do it!<\/p>\n

Next time you talk to someone you care about, try this instead. Ask him or her any or all of these simple questions:<\/p>\n
